The base compensation represents the entry point of the salary range. Salary placements will vary and may be above the starting wage based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, education, and licensure. Salary placements generally occur between the starting wage and the midpoint of the salary range.

Crisis Stabilization Services (CSS) Acute Treatment Unit provides support for those experiencing a wide variety of behavioral health crises. ATU offers a safe, therapeutic environment of stabilization for individuals on both a voluntary and non-voluntary status.

Position Summary:
With a Customer First and Compassionate approach, Mental Health Counselors will:

  • Provide person-centered assessment, goal planning, and treatment for mental health issues.
  • Provide screening, intakes, and assessment of clients utilizing required instruments and formats within appropriate timelines.
  • Develop strength-based written treatment plans/updates and continuing care plans and make appropriate referrals. Complete written discharge summaries and correspondence within established timelines.
  • Assess diagnosis and mental status of clients, evaluate current level of functioning, and develop and implement treatment/service plan to address clients' needs.
  • Intervene and de-escalate crises with clients. Provide crisis intervention via telephone or face-to-face in a variety of settings that may include crisis, walk services, mobile on-site services, residential settings, etc. Assess the risk of harm to self or others and arrange needed resources.
  • Collaborate with other clinicians, law enforcement, external providers, and psychiatrists to provide services to clients.
  • Perform case management services as needed to assist clients to meet their goals as stated in their service and/or treatment plans. Refer clients to internal and external support services such as vocational, medical, social services, and housing authority as well as residential, respite, and inpatient services.

Education Requirements: 

  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Psychology, Social Work, or Counseling is REQUIRED.

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver's License and driving record that meets agency insurability requirements is REQUIRED.

  • Bilingual Spanish speaking PREFERRED.
